Quince Paste
Quince paste, or Membrillo, is a traditional Spanish delicacy. Quince fruit itself is somewhat like a cross between an apple and pear, though rarely consumed raw. Instead, it is transformed into a paste and made into preserves with a touch of lemon and sugar. The consistency of the jam is quite thick, so it is best sliced and placed on a cracker with cheese. Quince paste is a perfect accompaniment to Spanish cheeses and provides a welcome complement to any cheese plate.
