We are now celebrating the 100th anniversary of Hemstrought's Bakery with theirIn search of a way to offer you European style breads to complement our cheeses, we acquired a bakery that still bakes from scratch every morning in the hometown of our Chairman in Upstate New York. Amazing breads, handkneaded and hand-formed in an old-world tradition will be available soon. For now, we have sweets that will soon become your family favorites.

 

A 100-year Celebration! 
In 1920, Harry B. Hemstrought crafted his famous half-moon recipe in what began as a small bakery on Genesee St. in Utica, New York. Hemstrought’s highly sought-after secret recipe has been passed down by our bakers for generations. Each half-moon is crafted with the perfect mix of smooth chocolate fudge and buttercream frosting atop a soft ‘cake-like’ cookie bottom for a unique texture with an irresistible taste.

 

One hundred years later, all cookies are still baked fresh “from scratch” every morning with all-natural ingredients. Who else bakes from scratch?

Our half-moons are hand-frosted with a luscious chocolate fudge and vanilla buttercream frosting -- a recipe that has not changed since the bakery's founding 100 years ago. Be sure to specify if you want Chocolate “bottoms” or Vanilla “bottoms”!
